Mattress Care & Aftercare Guide

Proper care helps preserve the comfort, support and performance of your mattress over time. Asquith mattresses are crafted with responsive pocket springs and supportive comfort layers, and - like all high-quality sleep products - benefit from thoughtful aftercare.

Follow the guidance below to help your mattress settle evenly and continue to feel its best night after night.

Adjusting to Your New Mattress

A new mattress can feel different depending on the bed base it’s paired with, and it’s normal for your body to take a few nights to adjust to the new support.

In the first couple of weeks, comfort layers begin to settle and conform to your sleeping position. This is expected and part of the normal “breaking-in” period.

Settlement & Natural Compression

Over time, slight dips or impressions may appear where you sleep most often. This is a normal sign of comfort layers settling and does not necessarily indicate a fault.

To help keep settlement even, we recommend rotating or turning the mattress as outlined below and varying your sleeping position where possible.

Turning & Rotating Your Mattress

To promote even settlement and maintain comfort:

  • Turn your mattress weekly for the first two months
  • After this period, turn or rotate the mattress every 6–8 weeks
  • If your mattress is non-turnable, rotate it from head to foot only

Regular turning and rotation helps distribute weight more evenly and can prolong the lifespan of your mattress.

Sleeping Position & Weight Distribution

If you lie in the same spot on your bed each night, a dip may develop over time. Rotating, turning or flipping (where applicable) helps encourage more even wear.

To reduce uneven wear:

  • Rotate or turn the mattress as recommended
  • Change where you lie from time to time where possible

We will not deem a mattress faulty if dips indicate that the mattress has not been turned or rotated as advised.
